Survey of Community Attitudes on proposed random roadside drug testing in the ACT

April 5th, 2010 TCC No comments

Roadside Drug Testing

The Tuggeranong Community Council invites you to participate in the survey below on the issue of random roadside drug testing and its possible introduction in the ACT.

Survey Context

The ACT Government is considering proposals to introduce a scheme whereby motorists in Canberra are randomly tested on the roadside for driving while under the influence of illicit drugs. At present ACT Police are able to test any driver whom they suspect may be under the influence of a substance whilst driving but random testing does not occur. Currently all motorists involved in motor vehicle accidents in the ACT are tested for the presence of alcohol and illicit drugs in their system. Random roadside drug testing already operates in other jurisdictions in Australia, in a similar way to random breath testing (RBT) of motorists for driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The survey should take about 5 minutes to complete. Answer each question by clicking the appropriate multiple choice box.
