While Tuggeranong Community Council (TCC) recognises the value of converting waste into useful products and the introduction of new recycling technologies, in appropriate locations, the ACT government needs to ensure that such a facility is safe, non-polluting and offers significant benefits over residual risks posed to nearby residents or the many workers in the industrial precinct of Hume itself, throughout all of any agreed lease period for the site.
A letter has just been sent to Minister Meegan FitzHarris about the buses driving along Anketell Street. The big issue identified in the recent Tuggeranong Liveability Survey was to revitalise the Tuggeranong Town Centre. The single biggest impact on the amenity and revitalisation of the area, is the use of Anketell Street by ACTION buses. Read More …
The TCC has been working with the Tuggeranong Lake Carers and the Southern ACT Catchment Group to put point out to the government the problems of Lake Tuggeranong – the fact that algal growth has closed the lake each summer since 2002
Below are suggested areas where funds should be allocated in the upcoming ACT budget
At a recent meeting of the Tuggeranong Community Council the National Capital Exposure Plan was discussed and a vote taken to find out Council members’ feelings on the subject.
The majority of people who attended the meeting were in favour of the Plan and wanted a clearer definition of the role of the NCA in planning in the ACT and better efficiencies in strategic planning processes
Hockey ACT has sought the support of the Council to change the lease so they could put Child Care centre on site to help pay for cost of upgrades
